Top Women Leaders To Be Honored by the Michigan Business and Professional Association

Inforum President and CEO Terry Barclay Among Those to be Honored March 4

Eight area  women leaders will be honored by the Michigan Business and Professional Association at its annual “Women and Leadership in the Workplace” Symposium and Awards on March 4, 2010 at The Fairlane Club in Dearborn.
 
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. followed by a brunch.  The conference runs until 12:00 noon.
 
The event is held to promote high professional standards, encourage leadership, provide education and assure equal advantages for women. This year’s theme is “A New You for a New Time.” More than 500 women are expected to attend the event.
 
This year’s honorees represent extraordinary professional women who have excelled in eight categories. They are:
  • Business: Cheryl Gibson Fountain, M.D., President Elect, Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan
  • Civic & Community Affairs: Mariam Noland, President, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan
  • Professional: Terry Barclay, President and CEO, Inforum
  • Media: Susie Ellwood, CEO, Detroit Media Partnership
  • Education: Kathleen Wilbur, President, Central Michigan University
  • Philanthropic: Faye Alexander Nelson, President & CEO, Detroit Riverfront Conservancy
  • Small Business Achievement: Patricia Nemeth, President & CEO & Linda Burwell, Principal & COO, Nemeth Burwell, P.C.
“Now more then ever, today’s women business leaders need to be recognized for their contributions to our economy,” said Ed Deeb, MBPA president. “This year our honorees are great examples of how women are making an impact in Michigan and have broken the glass ceiling.”
 
This conference offers workshops on the transforming workforce and self-awareness, networking opportunities and honoring these top women.
