Come be the first to hear new findings of The West Michigan Chamber Coalition which was formed to measure, develop strategies and communicate the value of cultural competency.

Lou Glazer, President of Michigan Future Inc. and Sonya Hughes, Vice President of Diversity and Initiative Programs at the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce will make the business case for cultural competency, sharing why this initiative is important to Michigan's path back to high prosperity, They will also offer potential strategies that business could implement to become more inclusion.
The places that do the best in attracting talent from anywhere on the planet have built a culture that welcomes talented people from around the world and condemn discrimination and segregation.

The "A New Agenda for A New Michigan" report released by Michigan Future Inc. in 2006 states that the number one strategy for Michigan's economic success includes "Being welcoming to all."

The West Michigan Chamber Coalition, consisting of Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland and Grand Haven/Ferrysburg/Spring Lake, immediately embraced this directive.  To make our region culturally competent, it has worked to develop strategies that include the community at large, employers and business, government, the educational community, the faith community and individuals.
